DIY - Ghost garland with recycled fabric

Guirlande fantôme halloweenWe love creating decoration while reusing stuff we have at home or what we can find in nature. Here is an easy and simple DIY that is also pretty cute! These ghosts that you can hang anywhere are made with fabric scraps ( we used some of our bulk bag fabric scraps but you could use old sheets, t-shirt, pillowcase etc.)

PS. This crafty project only takes a few minutes which makes it perfect for last minute decorations!

What you need:

  • Fabric scraps
  • String or twine
  • Scissors

Simple steps to create your own garland of ghosts:

  1. Cut your fabric in pieces of different sizes. For a scarier look: Make a small cut and then rip the fabric to cut it in different pieces.
  2. Cut a piece of string longer than the size of the garland you wish to make and lay it flat on a table or on the floor.
  3. Make a ball with one of the pieces of fabric and place in the centre of another piece of fabric to create the head of a ghost.
  4. Place the first ghost on the string (the string must be placed under it's head, where the neck should be) and tie the string around with a knot, creating the neck of the ghost.

Easy Peasy, you just made your first ghost! Keep going till you have the length needed.

You can try and decorate them with markers or paint or even by making a natural dye with black beans (for the recipe in our book Minimal)!

Also here is an idea for reusing your pumpkin in our last blog post, make a brightening pumpkin puree face mask.
