DIY Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Posted by Laurie Barrette on

At home, we always prefer the most natural products possible for cleaning. We do this as much for the environment as for our health.

Cleaning products are not only said to be linked to air pollution and waterways, but also to lung problems *. We associate a lot with the smell of chemicals with cleanliness, but natural products are just as effective in making our homes clean while respecting the environment.

Here's a powder bowl cleanser recipe that can be prepared in minutes. Citric acid is used to descale and whiten the toilet and when mixed with baking soda, it fizzles on contact with water to loosen dirt.

Ingredients:

2 cups, baking soda

1 cup, citric acid

5 drops, essential lemon oils **

**Optional, lemon essential lemon oils added only for the olfactory side of lemon associated with the smell of cleanliness.

  1. Combine ingredients in an airtight container.
  2. Add two tablespoons of the mixture to the bowl before cleaning and wait a few minutes while the mixture activated.
  3. Scrub the bowl with the toilet brush for a clean, sparkling toilet!

  • Bonjour,
