New Skin - three natural exfoliants

Posted by Laurie Barrette on

Why exfoliate? There are many reasons to exfoliate. Get rid of dead cells and have softer skin, activate circulation, have a luminous complexion, promote cell renewal, etc. But our favorite reason is that it forces us to take a moment for ourselves. A conscious moment where we make a gesture out of love for our body. We can do a little weekly ritual by lighting candles, putting on a playlist or a podcast that we like and we allow ourselves a moment of relaxation just for us. Any reason is good to have a little Self-Care moment!

Coffee scrub

An exfoliant that allows you to reuse your morning coffee while making your skin silky smooth. With just three ingredients, you can whip it up in seconds. It removes dead cells while moisturizing the skin.

  • ⅓ cup coffee grounds
  • ⅓ cup brown or brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup coconut or sweet almond oil
  • 1 pipette of botanical oil (optional)

1. Mix all the ingredients in a container.

2. Massage into dry skin in circular motions. Rinse and wash in the shower as usual.

*the oil can leave an oily residue in the bottom of the shower or bath. Clean well afterwards with the multi-purpose cleaner to avoid accidents!

Dry brushing

Dry brushing is done on dry skin before a shower. It is also called lymphatic brushing since it activates the lymphatic and blood circulation. We brush extremities (hands, feet) in the direction of the heart with the dry massage brush.

We love doing it in the morning before the shower to wake up. Every time we do it, we wonder why we don't do it more often, it's such an energizing massage!

You can find the same brush, but in a mini version for the face on the online store.

Exfoliation in the shower with a loofah

For an express exfoliation, use the loofah in the shower with soap. Rubbed the whole body in a light circular motion. You can insist on rougher areas like knees and elbows. Its rough fibers make it possible to get rid of dead skin like a horsehair glove. It is a fast and effective method!

After any exfoliation we like to moisturize our skin with a light lotion or our DIY whipped butter to make it even softer and soothe irritation.
